We believe Christianity is a Faith Journey. During each stage of our journey our needs change. Children outgrow
simply learning the stories of the Bible and simple applications. They have come to the point where they need
to explore the basics of the faith and begin to "own" them for themselves. Confirmation is the traditional
name given this stage of the Faith Journey. However, this is not a traditional confirmation class.
We believe
life is full of "signs" that point us down one direction or another. If we don't give our kids a
solid direction (map) for their journey, they will take their cues from society and follow its direction for their path.
Faith Journey Confirmation curriculum emphasizes solid Biblical teaching on issues such as the 10 commandments, the
Lord's Supper, the Lord's Prayer, and baptism. However, it goes beyond just learning the facts to really
understanding them and applying them. Each lesson has an object lesson so students can really grasp the meaning.
Classes are designed to be relevant, interactive, and fun for the students.
In addition, Confirmation is intended
to restore parents as the primary faith teachers, mentors, and role models for their children with the church as reinforcement
- not replacement - of a parent's duties. Therefore, parents also receive instruction in the faith and are very
involved in the classes. At the end of Faith Journey students and parents will have a solid Biblical foundation
to build their lives upon. They will have the map for their journey.
Typically, a child would this class
when he/she enters the 6th grade, receive two years of instruction, and "confirm" his/her faith. Confirmation
of Faith is not the end of the journey, but rather the start of a life long journey towards mature faith.
Confirmation classes
are on 2nd and 4th Sundays from 10:45 am to 12:00 pm.
